I’m a Winner – That’s What The Scammers Say Anyway

I wrote this last year but I still think that it is relevant and good information to help others to avoid being scammed.

Cor blimey my inbox has been really exciting during the past few weeks. I’ve won millions of pounds, had lots of lucrative business proposals and even received several greetings e cards. I’m a lucky lady – or am I?

Mr. Kenneth Gram says that I have won 750,000 euros in the Netherlands SWISS-LOTTO Satellite Software email lottery and that I should contact fidiciary agent Mr. David Barnet and include my:  Name, address, Marital, Age, Sex, Nationality, Country of Residence, Occupation, Telephone number, fax number and winning number provided in the email.

That was the second time I’ve won that prize, Mr. David Bradley was the fidiciary agent a few days beforehand in the FINAL notice and he wanted all those details too.

Monica Floyd tells me that I have won $2,500,000 in the Secured Mega Jackpot Online Sweepstakes and that I should contact Mr. Leon Becker and give him the following details: Name, Address, Occupation, Tel/Fax, Cell/mobile, Age, winning ref number. The email also reckons to be from Joan Brookes Promotions Co-ordinator and the email address is supposedly a US university hospital.

Then Mrs. Yvonne Zwanette sent me a $2,500,000 award winning notice from the Oversea Winners Processing Department. She’s in cahoots with Mr.Henry Cerutti and they want the following details: names, Telephone/Fax number, Nationality, Age, Occupation, Winning Email, Identification I D.

I got another award winning notice of $2,500,000 from Mr. Danny Blind
Lottery Coordinator www.lotto.nl. He says to send the following details to Kenneth Vermeer: Names, Telephone/Fax number, Nationality, Age, Occupation, Winning Email, Identification I D.

According to Mrs.Elizerbeert Hetter I won 1,200,000 euros from the electronic free E-mail ballot organized by Elgordo de la Primitiva Lottery Promotions of Spain and I need to contact Dr.Gerald Erichsen for details. This scammer is trying the two step process of getting you interested before asking for your personal details.

Mrs Ana Sanchez and Juan Fernando Hernandez joined together to tell me that I’ve won 1,500,000 euros in the E-Lotto Internet Promotional Draws Jackpot held in Madrid Spain on the 4th of March of 2009. They will send you a claim form when you contact them but the claim form is just a request for your personal details. That was so good I won it twice!

Mr.Dirk Hoffman and Mrs.Monica Lisa tell me that I won $2,500,000 in their lottery draw and want my details too and Don. Jose Miguel and Mrs. Helen Gomez say that I have won 1 million euros in their lottery draw.

What all of these winning emails have in common apart from wanting your details is that they tell you that the email is confidential and not to pass the information on.

………………………………………………

For fun I replied to one of several scam emails from Mr. Fernando Sanchez and Denim DYZER of MICROWORD CORPORATIONS CUSTOMER SERVICE. they say that they have awarded me a second prize in as many weeks of 488,620.00 Euros.

I saidOk pay me then

OMG they want a scanned copy of your passport or driving license!

My reply was:

“Why do you need that information when you and I both know that if I had really won a prize all you would need is my address to send a cheque to?

Their reply was:

DEAR SIR.
YOUR INFORMATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR DOCUMENTS PURPOSE.THERE ARE DOCUMENT TO FILE.IF A BANK HAVE TO ISSUE A CHEQUE,THERE HAS TO BE A FULL NAME E.T.C.
SO,PLEASE SEND THE REQUIRED INFORMATION.
THANKS
FERNANDOZ

My final reply was:

“Bull!! All you would need to send a cheque are my name and address. Only a fool would send all that information and scan copies of their passport and driving license for a complete stranger. You are a scammer pure and simple, a greedy thief feeding upon other peoples needs and greed. Get Lost”

Oh NO WAY! LoL I am seriously tearing up laughing right now. I left a more serious comment on your AMR review but I have to add here that I absolutely love your sense of humor and way to stick it to Mr. Lasik Eye Surgery! (I’ll remove my link from this one, lest I anger your trigger finger luv!) – Have a good day.

It was a Ms Lasik Eye Surgery. You have to have a sense of humour if you want to stay sane in this game. I don’t mind links if the comments add something to the blog, even if they just make me smile like this did.
